On Sunday nights, I always pray for Thursday to come quick and it usually does. This week however it seemed everyday was longer than normal. The time has slowly crept by at work and I’ve gone crazy watching the clock. If I had my way, I wouldn’t have a clock at work. I worked at Subway through high school and at one point in time the clock in the front didn’t work. Time seemed to fly by with the clock broken. Maybe I’ll “accidentally” break my clock here at Peterson’s! ;)
I usually have a nail appointment or 2 after work and being in the Young Women’s Presidency, I usually have an activity every Tuesday night. So I keep myself pretty busy. This week has been busier than normal though because it’s the start of October... Which means... It’s FALL CLEANING TIME! Every 6 months I completely muck out my house. That means taking all the furniture out of every room, washing walls, cleaning light fixtures, and shampooing carpets. Living in an older home, it seems like no matter how much I clean, whatever I’m cleaning NEVER comes clean. An example is I can mop and mop and mop the kitchen floor, which is an old linoleum, but my socks still get dirty by the end of the day from walking across it so much. We haven’t changed out the carpet in our house yet, so we have stains all over in every room from previous owners of the house. Our walls have a really thick plastered texture on them that love to attract cobwebs... So every Sunday night I’m usually hunting them down and getting rid of them before other people see. (I’m a little OCD.)
Here is my wish list of things needing to be done with the house before I can even think about bringing a baby home:
1. New carpet (Probably the most important)
2. A new bathroom (I don’t even want people to know what’s all wrong with it)
3. New kitchen floors (I’d like to say New Kitchen in general, but until Whit can find a job down here, that’s going to have to wait.)
4. Gas Furnace
5. New textured walls
2. A new bathroom (I don’t even want people to know what’s all wrong with it)
3. New kitchen floors (I’d like to say New Kitchen in general, but until Whit can find a job down here, that’s going to have to wait.)
4. Gas Furnace
5. New textured walls
Right now we have an ancient oil furnace that is very expensive to run. We have been heating our house with only our wood burning stove the past 2 years. This winter we will be getting a new gas one! Yay! So that can be checked off the list here soon!
Fixing up an older home is A LOT of work. Whit and I had a lot that we wanted to do with it this year... But when Whit was laid off, everything was kind of “put on hold”. I can’t wait to start working on it again!:) I’m remaining hopeful on Whit finding a job down here that will allow us to do so!
